Top 5 Fastest Production Cars of 2018

“How fast can it go?”

When it comes to the fastest-legal production car, many companies are trying their best to beat each other in this race. To test the excellence of an automobile, top speed is the one that everybody secretly cares about the most. Speed is the only true modern sensation that everybody wants.

I have compiled a list of top 5 fastest production cars of 2018. Here I have emphasize on the word Production which means custom cars and modified one are not included in this list. We will start from the slower one as compared to others and move towards the fastest one.

5. Hennessey Venom GT

In the race of producing the fastest production cars, Hennessey is accelerating  very swiftly. Venom GT comes 5th on our list. It also holds many speed records. Top speed of the car is 265.57 mph (427.4 km/h) but the Hennessey team recorded the top speed to be 270.49 mph, still it doesn’t qualify as the world’s fastest production car in the Guinness Book of Records. as it was only a one-way run. Venom GT is powered by a twin turbo charged 427 cubic, 7.0 liters V8 GM LSX Engine which produces the horsepower of 1244 at the rpm of 6600. The rear wheel drive system is accompanied with Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission. Venom GT also comes in 3 different variants depending upon the engine type. It uses carbon ceramic brakes with 6 piston cylinders in the front and 4 piston cylinders in the rear wheels.

4. Koenigsegg Agera One:1

The Koenigsegg Agera One is the most exclusive production car programs ever. The name One:1 is because of hp-to-weight curb weight ratio which is astonishing 1:1. This is a “Dream Equation” which previously thought impossible but Koenigsegg have made it possible, making Agera One the world’s first Mega Car. Top speed of the car is 273 mph (439.3 km/h) which place One:1 4th on our list. It is powered by a Twin-turbo charged, Koenigsegg Aluminum 5.0 liters V8 engine, double overhead camshafts with flex-fuel capability which gives a power output of 1 MW at 7500 rpm. The transmission system is equipped with specially designed 7-speed semi automatic dual clutch gear box with paddle shifters. Agera One:1 uses same carbon ceramic brakes as used in other super cars.

3. Koenigsegg Agera RS

In the list of world fastest production cars, Koenigsegg again grabs the 3rd place with it’s super car Agera RS. This handcrafted model is the successor of Agera One:1. It has more advanced technological functionalities than the previous models. The light weight chassis is made up of carbon fiber and aluminum honeycomb with integrated fuel tanks to distribute the weight evenly. Agera RS is also powered by the same V8 engine that was present in Agera One with some major advancements like;

  • Sequential, multipoint fuel injection.
  • Dual knock sensors and back pressure sensors.
  • Closed loop wide band lambda control.
  • Twin ceramic ball bearing turbo chargers.
  • Back pressure reduction system.

The average two-way top speed of the car is 277.9 mph (447.2 km/h) while during the one-way run, the top speed was recorded up to 284.55 mph (457.94 km/h). The transmission include 7-speed paddle-shift with auto shift mode with Koenigsegg Electronic differential (KED) and Koenigsegg Gearbox Control Module (KGCM).

2. Bugatti  Chiron

The CHIRON is the most powerful, fastest and exclusive production car in the BUGATTI’S brand history. This super machine is just extra ordinary. With it’s state of the art engine performance and it’s elegant design, Chiron is just jaw dropping. It is the successor of Bugatti Veyron, which holds the record of fastest production car. The anticipated top speed of chiron is claimed to be around 288 mph (463 km/h) but the company has electronically limited it’s speed to 261 mph (420 km/h) due to some safety reasons, mainly arising from the tires as the manufacturer concluded that no tire currently manufactured would be able to handle the stress at the top speed which the Chiron is capable of achieving.

CHIRON is powered by a 8.0 liters, 488 cubic inch Quad-turbo charged W16 engine which produces an astonishing horsepower of 1479. Unlike Veyron, the turbos in the Chiron runs on 1.85 bar boost and they run in pairs, sequentially. It has the completely re-designed 7-speed dual clutch transmission system. This insane vehicle runs with the tyre pressure monitoring system because tyre pressure is critical when driving at the top speed. To overcome such massive power, Chiron uses Carbon Silicon-Carbide disk brakes with 8 titanium piston cylinders for maximum performance. In short, this vehicle is significantly a BEAST with extreme beauty.

1. Hennessey Venom F5

Here it comes, The Hennessey Venom F5 named after F5 tornado which is the fastest on the fujita scale. In Geneva motor show, Hennessey reveals the F5 with the intend of making it the fastest production car on the entire planet. No other street-legal production sports car have ever been able to touch the 300 mph mark until now but Hennessey has teamed up with Shell and Penzoil to defy all odds and build the fastest car. Top speed of the car is claimed to be 301 mph (484 km/h) by V-MAX speed tracking system

This outrageous vehicle is powered by a 7.4 liters twin-turbo charged V8 engine which delivers a brutal horsepower of 1600. It will be available in two types of transmission system, 7-speed single clutch semi automatic with paddle shifters and 6-speed manual. Some major features of Venom f5 are mentioned below,

  • Complete Carbon fiber chassis with active aerodynamics.
  • 0-to-186 mph (0-to-300 km/h) in under 10 seconds.
  • Drag co-efficient 0.33
  • Michelin Pilot sport cup 2s tyres.
  •  GPS based traction control system.
  • Carbon ceramic brakes by brembo (expected).

Since the production of this hyper car is expected to start in 2019 therefore, Hennessey will reveal it’s detailed features later. But one thing is for sure that with state of the art machine, Hennessey will definitely create a benchmark in era of high-speed production cars.
